26 Aug 2014 – Reykjavik, Iceland – CCP Games, a leading independent developer of massively multiplayer games, has launched some big additions to agent missions and wormholes in the latest release for their award-winning sci-fi game, EVE Online.

In Hyperion, dangerous “Burner” pirates have started to arrive all over the universe. Trained by the five major pirate factions, these lone criminals hide behind space gates that only frigate-class ships can activate, making for a fresh alternative to the battleship warfare that dominates high-level agent missions. These optional but lucrative new missions mimic the type of battle more often found between players.

Hyperion also includes major changes to wormhole effects. Since wormholes were introduced into the game years ago, EVE players of all experience levels — always ready for a challenge — jumped headfirst into the unknown and carved out fragile refuges amidst a constantly shifting interstellar landscape. Among the changes:

  • New wormhole connections have opened up, and those with Black Holes inside have become the de facto fast-skirmish wormholes.

  • Class 4 wormhole systems have added another reliable exit wormhole, making them the perfect base from which to skirmish into other unknown systems while still providing a substantial income to those brave enough to stake their claim.

  • Changes in the mass calculations of ships entering wormholes should provide some exciting skirmishes, as bigger ships find themselves drifting further from the safety of the entrance.

“Hyperion brings the first of many upcoming changes to core parts of EVE Online that let players explore the New Eden universe and clash with its inhabitants.” said Andie Nordgren, Executive Producer for EVE Online. “Missions, wormhole exploration, and incursions are an integral part of EVE’s player-driven vicious cycle of harvesting, creation and destruction, with players of all levels sewing the fabric of our massive universe with their ambitions.”

Hyperion brings other changes to EVE, including more ship and module balancing, improved UI like sharable overviews and tooltips, new cybernetic arms and “retro” headwear, and the opening of planetary colonies in null security space to those outside the sovereign alliances that control them.

Hyperion follows Crius as the third update in a major shift for EVE development, from two expansions per year to around 10 releases annually, as CCP delivers more content, more frequently, to its legendary player-base. Hyperion is available free to all EVE Online subscribers and trial users.

Further information about Hyperion can be found on the feature page, as well as in developer blogs, the patch notes, and the Hyperion in-development video.

Hyperion has been deployed in the midst of the Alliance Tournament XII, a live-streamed month-long competition, where dozens of the game’s most powerful and skilled alliances send representatives to battle it out for supremacy, putting their own assets and reputations on the line for a shot at glory as well as unique blueprints for powerful prize ships.

REYKJAVIK, ICELAND – July 25, 2014 – CCP Games, a leading independent developer of massively multiplayer games, today announced that EVE Online® Senior Producer Andie “CCP Seagull” Nordgren has been promoted to the role of executive producer for EVE Online, the groundbreaking, sci-fi online game with hundreds of thousands of subscribers worldwide. In her new role, Nordgren will oversee all aspects of EVE Online’s production from the company’s Reykjavik headquarters.

Nordgren was appointed executive producer following four years at CCP Games, most recently in the role of senior producer for EVE Online. Having joined CCP in 2010 as a technical producer in the Core Technology Group, she championed the new server technology that made it possible to connect EVE Online and DUST 514®. She went on to serve as a senior technical producer before being named senior producer for EVE Online. During her tenure as senior producer, Nordgren was responsible for EVE Online’s product vision and roadmap, and oversaw the development team’s transition from two expansions per year to 10 releases annually in an effort to deliver more content, more frequently, to EVE Online’s famed community.

“It gives me great joy and confidence that Andie has accepted this challenge. Over the years I have watched her go from strength to strength at CCP and believe her deep understanding of how communities thrive and grow will benefit EVE even more in this new role,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP. “As senior producer, Andie developed and communicated a tremendously inspiring path forward for EVE which, now that she’s at the helm, we are confident will deliver EVE Online to new and exciting places in its second decade.”

“As senior producer, Andie has been responsible for some of EVE’s best expansions,” said Sean Decker, senior vice-president of product development at CCP. “As our ‘fleet commander’ she’s led with a strong and consistent vision for EVE’s future and she’s bested other candidates in our exhaustive search for an executive producer in every imaginable metric.”

“As the executive producer, I will continue to invest in the power of our amazing player community, and in making EVE Online the world’s most ambitious science fiction universe,” said Nordgren. “Being part of the EVE community is the most rewarding experience of my career, and it’s a great honor to be entrusted with its future.”

More on Nordgren and her appointment is available here.

EVE Fanfest 2014 logo

22 April 2014 – Reykjavik, Iceland – CCP Games, the world's leading independent massively multiplayer game developer, today reluctantly acknowledged a long-term secret project after whispers of it started circulating amid the world’s martial combat elite. The shadowy, morally questionable program reportedly mixed genetic manipulation and intense psychological training over many years and was designed to prepare several of CCP’s video game development staff for actual physical combat against famed mixed-martial arts (MMA) fighter Gunnar “Gunni” Nelson (12-0-1). They will face off in the EVE OF DESTRUCTION event held during on Friday night (20:00 UTC on 2 May) of the three-day long EVE Fanfest 2014.

Nelson, a world class Brazillian jiu-jitsu specialist, is arguably the greatest champion to arise from Iceland’s rich Viking heritage in the past several centuries. He responded to the news with a cold, emotionless stare.

MMA Fighter Gunnar 'Gunni' Nelson at Fanfest 2014

During EVE OF DESTRUCTION, Nelson will face off against CCP Games staff members and special guests in 10 back-to-back, one-versus-one wrestling matches in a fighting cage on loan from Mjölnir MMA Gym, his home training ground. The winner of each match is determined by submission, with unlimited time per round and only enough time between rounds for the introduction of the next competitor.

“The fighting itself will be very serious,” said Ragnar “CCP Loki” Eðvaldsson, the fight’s promoter. “We aim to defeat this world-class athlete and the team has been training hard for many months at Mjölnir to do so. What is the distance between a person at the top of the pyramid and those who strive to get there? Tune in to find out.”

Sveinn “CCP Guard/Mister G” Kjarval, who wears several hats as Community Developer for EVE Online, lead singer of Permaband and merciless coach of the CCP team, describes the EVE OF DESTRUCTION event as the “single greatest spectacle of athleticism” ever conceived, rivaled only by the “Brain vs. Pain” Chessboxing match held at Fanfest 2011. He promises “flailing, half-strength maneuvers” from his disciples that will “possibly, eventually have a 2% chance at best of causing this human tornado of devastation to pause and laugh just long enough that we get super lucky.”

Nelson responded with his trademark cold, emotionless stare.

February 27, 2014 - Reykjavik, Iceland: CCP Games, the world’s leading independent developer of massively multiplayer games, today announced the first round of programming for the tenth EVE Fanfest, the massive gathering that will celebrate eleven consecutive years of growth of the EVE Universe.

EVE Fanfest is the annual festival at which over 1,000 EVE Online capsuleers, DUST 514 mercs, soon-to-be EVE: Valkyrie pilots and their friends and family come together in Reykjavik, Iceland, for three days of celebration. This year promises to be the most expansive Fanfest yet as the three different games set in the EVE Universe converge into a single fan experience.

Unique events supplement the amazing panels, presentations, PvP tournaments, exotic local excursions, game demos, round tables, developer pub crawls, concerts, parties and unprecedented access to the development team. Highlights include:

  • The first live demo of EVE Online's summer expansion and more information about the long-term vision for game.
  • Reveals of what’s next for DUST 514 and a world-first hands-on opportunity with its next major evolution.
  • Exclusive hands-on with an entirely new build of the virtual reality dogfighting game EVE: Valkyrie and details about what’s in store for the game recently announced as an Oculus Rift launch title.
  • A special dedication ceremony for the “Worlds Within a World” monument to EVE players. This unique event, taking place in picturesque Reykjavik Harbor where the monument will be installed, will feature the monument’s creator, Reykjavik city officials and players from around the world.
  • The “Make EVE Real” speaker track returns with visionary scientists outlining how the science fiction portrayed in the EVE Universe might not be that far off from reality. Among the speakers is Dr. Michael Meyer, who will speak about his work as the lead scientist for NASA’s Mars Exploration Program and how the Curiosity rover has changed the way mankind searches for extraterrestrial life.
  • Headlining the legendary convention finale, the “Party at the Top of the World,” are musical acts Z-Trip (US) and FM Belfast (Iceland). Z-Trip returns triumphantly from last year’s massive DJ set and FM Belfast is back again after their killer 2010 performance.
  • Further updates on CCP’s transmedia projects, such as the company’s collaboration with Dark Horse and its partnership with director Baltasar Kormákur on an EVE television series.

That’s just some of what EVE fans will be able to look forward to. Much more will be revealed between now and the end of April--including the final schedule--with several surprises in store for the event itself.

Reykjavik, Iceland – 5 February 2014 -- In celebration of the first decade of the EVE Universe, CCP Games today confirmed plans announced at Fanfest 2013 to erect a monument in the picturesque downtown harbor of Reykjavik, Iceland to honor those who have participated in establishing the massive virtual universe. The monument will serve as a physical manifestation of the respect and appreciation the company has for the millions of EVE Online players and followers who have contributed in the cooperative creation of the EVE Universe over the past decade. It also serves as a gift to Reykjavik, the home of CCP Games and EVE Online development for the past 16 years, as well as its inhabitants and those who come to visit the world‘s northernmost capital.

The monument will stand atop a half a meter tall metal-plated concrete platform that will have the names of all the main characters of all active EVE Online players (as captured on March 1st, 2014) etched upon it. CCP will be honoring EVE players who have passed away by adding their names to the monument as well.  A web-based application will assist in finding specific names on the monument‘s surface. A laptop buried under the monument will serve as a time capsule with videos, messages wishes and more from the players and the development staff.

“Our intention is to immortalize the contributions of the millions of people of the EVE universe in a way that extends beyond their immortality in our games“, said Hilmar Veigar Petursson, CEO of CCP.  “Honoring them as part of a timeless monument shows how virtual lives and adventures have reached a new level of meaning and impact that weaves into and enhances those that happen in this world. We are humbled by all those that have joined us on the journey so far, and it’s our hope that this physical piece will continue to gather energy and relevance into decades to come, becoming like EVE Online and outliving us all. “

The monument will be unveiled on Wednesday April 30th, a day before Fanfest 2014, the annual gathering celebrating the EVE Universe held at Harpa Concert and Convention Center in downtown Reykjavik. At the event, thousands of EVE OnlineDUST 514 and EVE: Valkyrie players will witness the dedication in a special livestreamed ceremony that will include CCP staff, city officials, friends, and family.

Concept art of the monument

The monument is an a outdoor sculpture by the artist Sigurður Guðmundsson with help and input from EVE Online‘s own art directors Börkur Eiríksson and Ásgeir Jón Ásgeirsson. “Worlds Within a World” will stand over five meters tall and consist of two main elements facing each other through a highly polished stainless steel surface that reflects and mirrors the elements and the landscape. On the left side of the model stands a dark aluminum structure with a quote from the EVE Universe and on the right a dark granite facial figure representing the game’s players.

In 2013, EVE Online was honored by the Museum of Modern Art in the “Applied Design“ exhibition of the Museum‘s Philip Johnson Galleries and formally inducted into the permanent collection in the inaugural group of video games alongside thirteen others such as TetrisPac-Man, and The Sims. This monument extends CCP’s efforts to create a truly unique universe, in this case through a landmark that bridges the gap between the real world and the virtual.

Reykjavik, Iceland -- 11 December 2013 – CCP, the world’s leading independent developer of massively multiplayer online (MMO) games, today announced that the players of its game EVE Online have donated US$190,890 to the Icelandic Red Cross to help the citizens of the Philippines recover from Typhoon Haiyan.  The money was raised through the “PLEX for GOOD” program, which allows players of EVE Online to collectively donate in-game currency to worthy charities, as well as other associated donations.

Starting November 20, and with the support of the EVE Community, CCP began receiving donations of an in-game item called PLEX (Pilot’s License Extension), which represents one month of game time in EVE Online and can be bought and sold on the in-game markets for in-game currency. For each PLEX given in this way, CCP in turn donated US$15 to the Icelandic Red Cross for typhoon relief efforts.

During the PLEX for GOOD drive the EVE community banded together in dozens of unique player-run efforts to donate 12,726 PLEX (approximately 1060 years of playtime) to total US$190,890.

The drive culminated on December 7 in an 8+ hour “telethon” live-streamed on Twitch (www.twitch.tv/ccp) featuring EVE Online developers who pledged unique donations as fundraising milestones were hit, including developer boxing matches, male and female head-shaving, getting a full-arm tattoo, sparring versus a Tae Kwon Do champion and even getting shot with one paintball for every US$2,000 donated. Other programming included a guest appearance and “training session” by mixed martial arts phenom Gunnar “Gunni” Nelson, a developer cooking competition, Q&A sessions and a live sampling of the most exotic tastes of Icelandic cuisine.

While the interactive content of the telethon was on the lighter side, the heartfelt thanks from CCP’s development staff to its players is very sincere. Every milestone was reached and well surpassed.

“We often talk about how EVE is ‘real’, a simulation of humanity where there are few rules and all the economic, political and social forces of human nature push the boundaries of morality in all directions,” said Hilmar Veigar Petursson, CEO of CCP, “We’ve seen the passionate side of our players over the past decade, but truly nothing could prepare us for this level of generosity from them. It is humbling. It is beautiful. It is what EVE is really about.”

Coupled with the other PLEX for GOOD efforts, EVE Fanfest silent auctions and other associated charity drives, the EVE community has raised a total of over US$340,000 for charitable causes since EVE was released on May 6, 2003.

REYKJAVIK, ICELAND— Nov 19, 2013—CCP Games, the world’s leading independent massively multiplayer game developer, today announced the launch of EVE Online: Rubicon, the 20th free expansion to the award-winning sci-fi MMO EVE Online®. Rubicon builds upon ten years of constant subscriber growth and EVE’s latest and most successful expansions, Retribution and Odyssey.

Rubicon embodies the EVE pilots’ first true actions of open opposition against the powerful, monolithic empires that used to hold them under their sway.   Through their bold actions, they begin to expand the already unmatched autonomy they have over their massive and persistent game universe.

In EVE Online: Rubicon, rebellion against empire control is only one of the conflict drivers. Pilots wage guerilla-style warfare against other players, raid their controlled space in new ships meant for both exploration and combat, and erode industrial power from deep behind enemy lines by using mobile, player-owned structures that leech resources and provide tactical support. Rubicon offers much for individual capsuleers and small-sized fleets looking to carve out adventure, profit and infamy within the nearly 8,000 solar systems of the EVE Universe.

Rubicon continues where Odyssey left off with new exploration content in the form of Ghost Sites—lucrative and dangerous vaults hidden away in space by the pirate factions of EVE. Pilots have begun to encounter the secret technologies hidden within and to manufacture their own implants in brazen defiance of the empires’ explicit commands.

In addition, the Marauder, Electronic Attack Frigate, Interceptor and Interdictor class hulls headed back to the shipyards for re-engineering and other balancing changes aimed to change the warfare “meta” for fleets of all sizes. New certificate and ship identification systems help novice players ease into one of the world’s most indisputably deep games and give veteran players a greater sense of what to accomplish next. Dozens more big and small changes help maintain EVE’s tradition as a sophisticated and powerful sci-fi simulation.

“With Rubicon, we’re taking the first, decisive steps towards our vision for EVE Online’s second decade,” said Andie Nordgren, senior producer of EVE Online. “We are at the beginning of a multi-expansion arc that will forever alter the face of New Eden by offering players more power over the universe than ever before and setting them upon an inevitable path to ascension.”

Decker comes to CCP from game developer and publisher Electronic Arts (EA), where he spent the last 12 years in a variety of key production leadership roles.  Most recently Decker was vice president of EA’s “Play4Free” group, built from the ground up as an integrated organization focused on building, publishing and operating games based on the free-to-play business model.  In that role, Decker ran numerous studios around the world that released games played by tens of millions of registered users.

“Sean’s extensive experience in the games industry will be extremely valuable for us as we enter the second decade of the EVE Universe,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP.  “The next few years will be the most important in the company’s history, as we build on the launch of DUST 514, expand EVE Online, continue development of World of Darkness, and kick start our efforts in mobile gaming.”

Prior to his time leading EA’s “Play4Free” group, Decker served as vice president and general manager at DICE, where he oversaw the Battlefield and Mirror’s Edge franchises, and at EA’s Los Angeles studio, where he directed the Medal of Honor and Command & Conquer franchises.

This engaging presentation will discuss the near-future of space exploration and asteroid prospecting.

Start of Game’s Second Decade Sees Most Explosive Subscriber Growth in its Rich History

REYKJAVIK, ICELAND – Feb 28, 2013 – CCP Games, the world’s leading independent massively multiplayer game studio, today announced their award-winning, sci-fi MMO EVE Online® had surpassed the 500,000 subscriber mark worldwide for the first time in the game’s history. The milestone continues ten consecutive years of subscriber growth and follows the December 4 release of EVE Online: Retribution, the game’s 18th free expansion and its most successful ever.

Also in December, EVE Online relaunched in China with new partner Tiancity to bring the same sandbox-style gameplay to a massive new audience where it has been thriving ever since.

In January, CCP’s DUST 514® a free-to-play massively multiplayer online first-person shooter, went into open beta and became available for free download exclusively to PlayStation®3 users worldwide. DUST 514 shares the same, real-time universe as EVE Online and player corporations can coordinate attacks between the two games.  This marked the first time two games from different genres have been linked together into one, massive online experience.

“Ten years after release, it is incredibly inspiring that, through a lot of hard work from our EVE Online team, we are crossing the half-million subscriber mark,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP. “For me, this is a true testament that EVE can live on forever, as long as we do right by her. We have not come to this point alone; millions of players have helped push us to this milestone. I now know in my mind what I previously only believed in my heart: that EVE will outlive us all.”

CCP will commemorate EVE Online’s tenth anniversary throughout the year under a unified “Second Decade” theme. The year-long celebration will kick off in late April in Reykjavik, Iceland with the sold-out EVE Fanfest, EVE Online’s annual player festival which will be streamed live online.  EVE’s official tenth birthday follows on May 6th and will mark the official start of the second decade of the EVE Universe.

Throughout the year, CCP will be supporting player gatherings around the world and holding in-game events to further the storyline of the combined universe as it continues to grow.

Award-winning sci-fi online game visualizes a day in its universe

March 1, 2013: EVE Online®, the massively multiplayer online game celebrating its tenth straight year of growth, has been acquired by The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) as one of the first fourteen video games to enter its permanent collection. The famous New York City museum’s new Applied Design installation opened to the public this afternoon and will run through January 31, 2014. It showcases a collection of video games selected by a panel of industry experts, amongst other media and artwork.

For its portion of the exhibit, CCP Games created a “day in the universe” visual experience that brings the museum-goer on a journey in the EVE Universe through the everyday actions of some of the more than 500,000 inhabitants from 230 countries around the world. A call for submissions of personal gameplay recordings from EVE players yielded genuine, real-life gaming experiences from a single day in EVE history that were then combined with 1.2 terabytes of data from EVE’s server databases and Big Data storage into a larger narrative representing the massive sci-fi game and player interactions within it.

“We couldn’t imagine telling the story of the EVE Universe without putting our players and their actions front and center,” said Torfi Frans Olafsson, Creative Director, EVE IP Development Division. “The exhibition was such an inspiring project to work on. Seeing our universe under the same roof as so many other legendary works we love makes that collaboration an even more meaningful honor.”

The MoMA exhibit is one of the first leaps for EVE Online as it hurtles into its second decade, following shortly after its 18th and most successful free expansion, Retribution, launched in December. Other major upcoming EVE events include a sold-out EVE Fanfest, CCP’s annual player festival in Reykjavik, Iceland, and EVE‘s official May 6th tenth anniversary.

REYKJAVIK, ICELAND – January 14, 2013 – CCP Games today announced that on January 22, 2013, DUST 514 will officially move into Open Beta, free to download and play for anyone with a PlayStation®3. The path for the DUST 514 Open Beta was paved when, on January 10th, CCP achieved the major milestone of merging DUST 514 with EVE Online on the Tranquility server hosting the EVE Universe.

By uniting DUST 514 and EVE Online on the same single-shard server, CCP has accomplished something unprecedented in videogame history: a single persistent online universe of incredible depth and scale that bridges the PC and console platforms in real time. Furthermore, this marks the first time two games from different genres, a space combat simulator and a first-person shooter, have been linked together into one, massive online experience.

“The launch of the DUST 514 Open Beta is another step towards our long-term vision for CCP and EVE,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP. “But this is just the beginning. As we have done with EVE Online, in the coming weeks, and for years to come, we will continually improve upon and add to the DUST 514 experience, as well as add deeper integration between the two games and their communities.”

Now Eve Online’s New Eden is an even bigger and more diversified universe where two games of interstellar combat exist concurrently and impact each other constantly.

DUST 514 Open Beta Begins January 22, 2013

On January 22nd the wait will be over when Open Beta begins, but for DUST 514 mercenaries currently in the closed beta test, careers truly begin as of today. With no further character resets planned, every shot, every battle and every contract now counts.

More details about what happens to the existing mercenaries, load-outs, and corporations of DUST 514 during the brief migration period can be found at http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=74180

Players not currently in the DUST 514 closed beta still have a chance to get a head start before Open Beta officially begins.

Available now through the PlayStation Store, the DUST 514 Mercenary Pack grants closed beta access, 40,000 Aurum and a host of in-game items for $19.99 (a $50 value), all of which will remain intact as DUST 514 rolls into the Open Beta. In addition, as a special bonus for players in the Closed Beta test, anyone who plays a match before January 22 will receive a 100,000 Skill Point bonus to take into the Open Beta.

[4 December 2012] Reykjavik, Iceland– CCP Games, one of the world’s leading independent game studios and creator of the award-winning massively-multiplayer online game EVE Online, has deployed its 18th game expansion free of charge to hundreds of thousands of players worldwide.

EVE Online: Retribution brings visceral consequences to the massive sci-fi universe, empowering pilots to exact revenge on a much larger scale than ever before. A unique bounty hunting system allows players to exert pressure on adversaries at the alliance, corporation and individual levels, and a new ability to openly sell kill rights means a lot more eye-for-an-eye justice will be had. A reworked “Crimewatch” system makes clear the outcomes of acts both legal and illegal while still leaving limitless choice up to the player who decides to commit them.

In a massive rebalancing effort, every frigate, destroyer and cruiser in EVE will be re-engineered to provide more gameplay options for new players and veterans alike, revitalizing some of the less frequently used hulls.

Each of EVE’s main factions will add a deadly new destroyer to the market with this latest expansion, alongside other new additions: a mining frigate, salvage drones and a micro-jump drive. Further, a situational music system will accompany dozens of revamped sounds in the game. There are also several major changes to the user interface, making EVE Online: Retribution more intuitive without sacrificing any of its intricacy and potential.

“The EVE Universe has always been alive, filled with the choices of the hundreds of thousands of pilots who’ve lived in it,” said Jon Lander, Executive Producer of EVE Online. “With Retribution we’ve made many far-reaching changes, and I believe that EVE will feel revitalized as we head into our second decade.”

From NPC artificial intelligence changes to corporation recruitment improvements, Retribution is one of the most wide-ranging expansions in EVE’s history, prepping it well for a tenth year of continuous growth.

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) recently announced plans to add EVE to its permanent collection: http://www.moma.org/explore/inside_out/2012/11/29/video-games-14-in-the-collection-for-starters/

The MoMA installation will feature a collaborative piece created in cooperation with EVE players and highlighting a single day in the history of EVE, December 9, 2012: http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=74037

October 1, 2012—Reykjavik, Iceland: CCP Games, one of the world’s leading independent game studios, has announced EVE Online: Retribution, the 18th free expansion for its award-winning sci-fi massively multiplayer online game.

Coming on December 4, 2012, EVE Online: Retribution will shake the very core of the limitless game universe as it rockets towards an unprecedented 10th anniversary year with more players than ever before.

Central to EVE’s dynamic unending content are the dreams, plans and actions of its players. EVE Online: Retribution accentuates the core philosophy of the legendary online society: that each decision and each action bears truly meaningful consequences via human interaction.

A complete rework of EVE’s bounty system will allow players to exact revenge by placing bounties on individuals, corporations and alliances and enlisting other players to “do the dirty work.” The aggression flagging system, “Crimewatch,” will undergo changes as well, making clear the consequences of actions, whether legal, suspect or illegal.

EVE Online: Retribution will see all frigates, destroyers and cruisers collectively reworked in a tremendous game balancing effort that will lead to massive play style refreshments for pilots of all skill levels. Four new Tier 2 destroyer-class ships will be added alongside major changes in other systems, including NPC artificial intelligence, factional warfare, sound design and the user interface.

“This is the perfect followup to a recent series of well-received expansions in which we’ve put even more control over the game universe in the hands of our players,” said Jon Lander, EVE Online’s executive producer.  “Limitless human conflict and real consequences for your actions: sounds like a compelling dramatic setting to me.”

More about EVE Online: Retribution will be revealed at the feature page (www.eveonline.com/retribution ) and in regular developer blog posts leading up to launch (http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp).
